With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, I thought we’d talk about chocolate in this week’s blog. Seriously, is there anything better than Godiva chocolate? It’s smooth and rich and decadent. Just one little piece is satisfying because it’s so amazingly rich and good.
Maybe that’s why it’s so expensive. You know, if you were to purchase a pound of Godiva chocolates, you’d pay approximately $50! (The 105-piece Gold Ballotin collection will run you about $130!) In fact, it is among the top ten most expensive chocolates in the world, which is probably why we give it as a gift for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, wedding anniversaries, birthdays, etc.
Not only is it yummy, but also it’s always beautifully packaged and very distinctive. And, you can’t buy it just anywhere. Usually, you can only find it in upscale department stores or specialty stores.
God sees you as Godiva!
OK, now how about Hersey’s chocolates? Do you love a Hersey bar every once in a while? Me, too! I especially like Hersey’s milk chocolate. It’s not quite as rich as Godiva but it’s pretty good. It’s also not as expensive. Instead of paying $50 for a pound, you’ll only pay about $4. And, you can find Hersey’s chocolate at most convenience stores, grocery stores, drugstores—pretty much any place that sells candy. Hersey’s is pretty inexpensive and much more common.
Both are chocolate. Both are good. But one is of much more value.
So, let me ask you this…how do you see yourself? As a Hersey bar or as a piece of rich Godiva chocolate? Unfortunately, many of us grow up feeling even less valuable than a Hershey bar in comparison to a piece of Godiva chocolate. Some of you may even feel like you’re worth about the same as a nameless imitation brand of chocolate that you might find at a discount store.
But here’s what I want you to know—God sees you as Godiva! He sees you as valuable and worthy and wonderful. He just wants you to see yourself the same way, so let’s read a few scriptures that prove your worth.
Luke 12:6-7 says: “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows” (NLT).
First Peter 1:18 says: “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value” (NLT).
First Corinthians 7:23 says: “God paid a high price for you…” (NLT).
Bottom line—you are Godiva all the way! God sees you as a masterpiece. He treasures you! And on the days when you’re feeling less than “Godiva-like,” just remember that God gave His very own Son so that you might be saved and spend eternity with Him. You’re worthy! You’re special! You’re a rare treasure! You’re valuable! You’re all that!
Now, go forth with that “Godiva attitude” and know that you’re more than enough.God sees you as valuable and worthy and wonderful--like Godiva chocolate! #godlovesyou #faithingod Click To Tweet
